"Shadows of the Ruska Roma"
Plot Summary
Eve Macarro is born into a family of assassins—her father, Javier, is a member of the Ruska Roma, and her mother is a mysterious Cultist. At a young age, Javier takes Eve away from the Cult, leading to her mother’s death. As the Cult’s Chancellor seeks to retrieve her, they launch an assault on Eve’s home, killing her guards and fatally wounding Javier, who helps Eve escape.
Winston Scott, owner of the New York Continental, takes Eve to the Ruska Roma, where she meets their Director and agrees to join their ranks. Over the next 12 years, Eve trains intensely as a ballerina and as an assassin and bodyguard under the guidance of the Director and Nogi. During her training, she encounters John Wick, who visits the Director seeking safe passage to Casablanca. John advises Eve to turn away from a life of violence, but she remains committed. Eve eventually graduates after killing a fellow Ruska Roma assassin—implying she failed in her duty—and successfully protects her first ward, heiress Katla Park.
Two months later, after completing a contract, Eve is attacked by an assassin, whom she kills and recognizes as a Cultist. She questions the Director about the Cult, eager for revenge, but is forbidden due to a longstanding truce between the Cult and Ruska Roma. Defying orders, Eve then visits the New York Continental, where Charon arranges a meeting with Winston. Winston reveals that Daniel Pine, a Cultist, resides at the Prague Continental with a hefty bounty on him. Eve travels to Prague, books a room, and infiltrates Pine’s suite. She discovers Pine’s daughter, Ella, whom Pine is hiding from the Cult after she escaped them. As Cultists stationed at the hotel watch them, Lena, the Cult’s leader, raises Pine’s bounty.
The Cult's mercenaries attack, leading Pine to entrust Ella to Eve, promising to reveal information about the Cult later. As they exit the Continental, Cultist Dex shoots Pine, and Lena incapacitates Eve and abducts Ella. The staff at the Prague Continental spare Eve and execute the attacking Cultists and mercenaries.
Eve then seeks weapons from arms dealer Frank but is attacked by Cult operatives. After killing her pursuers, Frank helps her locate the Cult’s base, providing transportation. Her search leads her to Hallstatt, where she is quickly ambushed by locals—each an assassin working for the Cult. She’s captured and taken to the town’s Chancellor, who recognizes her as part of the Ruska Roma. Eve reveals her revenge motives; the Chancellor reveals that Pine is his son and Ella is his granddaughter. He also admits that Eve's sister Lena is alive. Eve escapes with Lena’s knowledge, as Lena reveals Javier abandoned her during his escape out of fear that the Cult had indoctrinated her.
The Chancellor orders the sisters’ executions, but Lena is killed by grenades during the chaos—Eve escapes, but not before learning that Lena was her older sister. The Chancellor, angry at Eve’s rebellion, declares war between their factions. To quell the conflict, the Director sends John Wick to eliminate Eve—a task the Chancellors accepts.
John finds and fights Eve in Hallstatt, repeatedly sparing her and urging her to abandon her vendetta. She desperately clings to her revenge, prompting John to give her less than thirty minutes to kill the Chancellor, after which he will continue his contract.
As Eve fights her way through Hallstatt with John’s distant assistance, the Chancellor attempts to escape with Ella. Eve confronts him, and despite his pleas, she executes him and rescues Ella. John informs the Director that the Chancellor is dead. Ella is reunited with a recovering Pine at the New York Continental, where Eve seeks refuge. Meanwhile, the Cult places a large bounty on her head. Watching a ballet performance by former Kikimora trainee Tatiana, Eve learns of the bounty and promptly leaves the theater, knowing her fight is far from over.
