Pandora’s Rebirth: The Battle for Eywa and Humanity’s Future
In 2154, Earth faces severe resource depletion and ecological ruin. The Resources Development Administration (RDA) mines unobtanium on Pandora, a vibrant, habitable moon orbiting a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri system. Pandora’s atmosphere is toxic to humans, which is why its native inhabitants, the Na'vi—tall, blue-skinned, intelligent humanoids aligned with nature—live in harmony on the planet.
To explore Pandora, human scientists control Na'vi-human hybrid avatars. Paraplegic ex Marine Jake Sully is recruited by the RDA after his twin brother's death to operate one. Initially deemed inadequate by Dr. Grace Augustine, head of the Avatar Program, Jake is eventually accepted.
While escorting Grace and Dr. Norm Spellman's avatars, Jake is attacked by Pandora’s wildlife and rescued by Neytiri, a Na'vi princess. She brings him to her clan, and her mother, Mo'at, orders Neytiri to initiate Jake into their society. Colonel Miles Quaritch, head of security, promises Jake he’ll regain his legs if he provides intel on the Na'vi and their Hometree—above a rich deposit of unobtanium. Grace, Jake, and Norm move to a new outpost. As Jake falls in love with Neytiri and becomes part of the clan, they choose each other as mates. When Jake tries to stop a bulldozer threatening a sacred site, Administrator Parker Selfridge orders the Hometree destroyed.
Despite Grace’s protests, Selfridge gives Jake and Grace one hour to persuade the Na'vi to evacuate. Jake admits he was spying, and the Na'vi capture him and Grace. Quaritch’s forces destroy the Hometree, killing many—including Neytiri’s father, the clan chief. Mo'at frees Jake and Grace, but they are disconnected from their avatars and imprisoned. Disillusioned, Pilot Trudy Chacón airlifts them away, but Grace is fatally shot during escape.
Jake reestablishes trust with the Na'vi by linking his mind to the mighty Toruk. Supported by Neytiri and new leader Tsu'tey, Jake unites the clans to fight the RDA. Quaritch attempts a strike on the Tree of Souls, aiming to demoralize the Na'vi. Before battle, Jake prays to the Na'vi deity Eywa through a neural link with the Tree.
During the conflict, many Na'vi are killed, but Pandoran wildlife unexpectedly joins the fight, turning the tide—an act Neytiri sees as Eywa’s response. Quaritch escapes his crashed AMP suit and breaks into Jake’s human-linked avatar, exposing him to Pandora’s poisonous atmosphere. Neytiri kills Quaritch to save Jake, finally seeing his human form.
The RDA is driven off Pandora; only some humans remain. Jake permanently transfers into his avatar, bonded via the Tree of Souls.
