Overview
The Bad Guys 2 is a 2025 American animated heist action comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and inspired by Aaron Blabey’s popular children’s book series. Serving as a direct sequel to The Bad Guys (2022), the film is directed by Pierre Perifel with JP Sans as co-director and written by Yoni Brenner and Etan Cohen.

Development
Director Pierre Perifel first hinted at a sequel in March 2022, even before the release of the original film. In 2024, DreamWorks officially confirmed the project, with Perifel and the main cast returning. Natasha Lyonne joined the cast in July 2024, followed by Danielle Brooks and Maria Bakalova in November. Daniel Pemberton once again composed the score.

Plot Summary
After the downfall of Professor Marmalade and their release from prison, the Bad Guys attempt to live an honest life. However, Wolf, Shark, Piranha, and Tarantula struggle to find jobs, while Snake spends much of his time away. Wolf grows closer to Governor Diane Foxington, but their relationship is complicated by their pasts. Hoping to win society’s trust, Wolf assists Commissioner Luggins in tracking down the elusive Phantom Bandit.
The crew is framed for crimes by Kitty Kat, Pigtail Petrova, and Doom, leading to a high-stakes mission involving a MOON-X rocket and a global gold heist. Ultimately, Wolf outsmarts Kitty, saves the world’s gold, and Diane defeats Kitty in a final showdown.
